My 10 Year Old -

I am always very proud of my 10 year old son. But sometimes he still continues to amaze me at his quick grasp of mathematical concepts......

Like any 10 year old boy, he loves to play video games.  Fortunately for me, he also likes to play games that are slightly educational....for ex:  Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader.  However, he really likes to ask me the questions and I have long ago determined that I am NOT smarter than a 5th grade.    I wish I was but that show has stumped me far to many times for me to believe otherwise. The only questions I get right are the math ones.  Luckily for me since I am a math teacher. :)

Anyway, last night he asked me what median is.  He and I have just started to discuss probability and this was a new term to him.  And here is why I love his brain......after I gave him the definition, he did not ask me for an example.  Instead he gave ME an example!  How awesome is that?   It may not sound impressive, but after 20+ years in education, I haven't had that happen too often and my elementary child was the one to do it.  Made my day!  :)  It's the little things that make me happy.
